Review: Miss Saigon (Apr 2015)

Hey readers!
It's time for my review of Miss Saigon.
Now let me start by just saying WOW! WOW, WOW, WOW! This is probably one the best musicals I have ever seen. It had amazing sets, amazing costumes, amazing everything! The show transported us back to 70's. It was incredible. A scene that stood out for me was the helicopter scene in act two. This was superbly staged. You could really feel the people's pain when the American's left. This is a show that I can guarantee you will be crying by the end. It is certainly an emotional roller-coaster. It really portrayed how hard things were in Vietnam in the 70s. To go with all this they had some of the best songs in musical theatre. It also had a great cast including Eva Noblezada as Kim, who is an inspirational actor and singer who gives it her all, Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer, who is a perfect all-round performer, Alistair Brammer as Chris Scott, whose energy is boundless, Hugh Maynard as John Thomas, who has a great tone to his voice and is also a good actor, Tamsin Carroll as Ellen, who is a very talented actor and singer, Kwang-Ho Hong as Thuy, who is a superb actor and singer, and last but not least is Marsha Songcome who was filling in for the role of Gigi Van Tranh, who portrayed the role faultlessly. The ensemble were also amazing. I know there was a problem backstage where the doors stopped working during the American Dream and the dancers and the car could not come out, but Jon Jon did cover this up really well.

The featured star of Miss Saigon is, drum roll please… JON JON BRIONES!

This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make with featured star. At one point I was going to pick Eve, then I decided on Jon Jon, but then I decided on Alistair. Eventually I decided on Jon Jon as he is one of the best performers you will ever see in theatre.

Now for my final verdict on Miss Saigon. I give Miss Saigon…

This is one of the best current West End shows and recommend it to all.

Think it should have got a lower rating? If so comment below.
